Provo Power Plant

Provo, UT 84601
(801) 852-6802 Provo Power
The landmark 1939 Provo City Power Plant and its smokestacks had been disintegrating for years with pieces falling from the top. The building had cracked walls, broken windows, and a crumbling ceiling that leaks.
The building was not up to any current codes, especially the danger of seismic activity. So it had to be brought down.
The old iconic smokestacks were brought down in Sept of 2016.

New Plant in 2016
The new Provo City Power building and complex pays tribute to the history of Provo Power which began in 1940.
Three construction projects took place to replace the old Power Plant. First was the construction of the new Provo City Power complex. Next was an upgraded power substation and finally a new natural gas peaking power plant to take place of the old one that was decommissioned in 2016.
The new plant operates with more efficiently and with less emissions.
